San Francisco’s Department of Emergency Management has come together with Bayshare in an unprecedented new partnership—tying collaborative consumption to disaster response. The organization, SF72, advocates that connected communities are stronger communities, and launched with the above video.
Collaborative consumption services have built a highly connected infrastructure, which SF72 intends to use to its full advantage in the face of disaster. Picture Lyft drivers transporting emergency personnel, and Airbnb hosts accommodating displaced community members. Perhaps other cities will follow suit, after yesterday’s announcement that US Mayors passed a resolution to make cities more shareable.
