Collaborative Pioneer: Inside Interview with Alejandro Cosentino of Afluenta

MBF_5103b (1)Alejandro Cosentino is the founder and CEO of Afluenta.

The easiest way to explain Afluenta is…
The first and largest peer to peer lending platform in Latin America, where people invest in other people’s projects. The lenders win more and the borrowers pay less.

I believe it is the right moment for Afluenta to take off because…
There is a lack of investment opportunities in Argentina. Afluenta is one of most profitable investment, with a 33,5% * annual net return for investors. And for those who want a loan, it’s an affordable alternative compared to traditional banks.

The biggest challenge to overcome is…
Scale the business to the rest of Latin America. For that we need to address the cultural change and comply with local regulations.

In your opinion, what is the secret sauce of Afluenta?
We decoded the legal structure along with an incredible software platform supported by an outstanding team’s commitment to delight customers.

A unique fact/statistic that surprises people about Afluenta is…
+ 12,000 investment transactions among real people to fund people’s loans.

What are the first three things you do when you get into the office?
Greet every single colleague, organize my schedule, program my calls and check how many new customers we’ve got.

Another example of Collaborative Consumption I admire is…
Kickstarter

The greatest advice someone ever gave you about start-ups?
Do not lose your faith, understand that a start up is a marathon not a 100-meter sprint, and avoid the roller coster effect.

What would you do differently next time?
This is my last start up. I’m getting older.

What does a perfect world look like to you?
Honest politicians.
